The Postures With Purpose series’ are designed to be a direct application of a hatha yoga lifestyle. These seven week courses take place in the fall and spring. Week by week we will utilize postures, breath techniques, meditation, cleansing techniques—which will include nutritional awareness—while building a supportive community together. There will be two classes each week. The evening class will introduce an hour of theory which will include contemplative prompts. The morning class will be the hatha yoga posture and breath technique portion. Both classes will be recorded and posted on a private platform for students to access.

Yoga recognizes that we have multiple layers to our being beyond our tangible physical body. Through proper alignment of the physical body, we harmonize our subtle energy, mind and intelligence taking us a step further towards wholeness. Although yoga asana is a physical practice, its essence is spiritual as it seeks to penetrate to the core of our being.

Weekly Sessions

PWP is an intentional approach to yoga asana honoring its traditional aim to awaken higher levels of awareness dormant within us. Yoga asana is the foundation for creating the fundamental connection between our mind and body through the precision of our attention. This is the first step on the path to unity. For this alchemic process to take place, it requires the practitioner to approach the practice with humility, dedication and the willingness to release preconceived notions. The six-week container for each session will provide the consistency and community for collective growth.

These sessions are intended for yoga enthusiasts wishing to refine their asana practice, deepen their understanding of how asanas affect the subtle body and honor the spiritual intention of yoga. PWP are approachable classes for the fit beginner although they are intended for students who have experience with yoga asana.

The practice of yoga asana is a powerful tool on the spiritual path.

Some equate the totality of yoga with this branch alone. The practice of yoga asana is so vast and ever evolving through our lifetime, it certainly is a legitimate full-time study. However, the traditional aim of asana practice is far more revolutionary than the benefit of a fit and flexible body. For the hatha yogis view the body as a temple housing our divine soul. Through investigation and proper alignment of the outer structure of our personality, we cultivate a precision of our attention which leads us to our highest Self.

“Body is the bow, asana is the arrow, and soul is the target.”

— B.K.S. Iyengar

There is much confusion about the path of yoga asana as so many various styles of posture practice have developed over the last several decades. All posture practice falls under the umbrella of hatha yoga despite whether the approach is called Vinyasa, Power, Iyengar, Sivananda or Ashtanga to name a few examples. These styles are specific to a particular teacher or group who have created sequences or even attitudes of approach to practice. These attitudes could be relaxing, invigorating, aggressive, gentle, slow or fast. Regardless of the approach, its history is rooted in hatha yoga.

Spring Clean

A 7-Week Journey Through the Matrix of Our Being

The chakras are storage places of subtle energy. They have the power to influence our thoughts, behavior, physical shape, and our psychological make-up. Each of the major chakras correlates with a state of consciousness symbolized by a lotus flower with a specific number of petals. Unfolding the petals of the chakras is a journey of the evolution of our consciousness.

Exploring the latent potential of the chakras and bringing them into balance renders the opportunity for self-healing and transformation. During this seven part workshop the chakra system will be explored through movement, breath, sound, visualization and theory.

All sessions will be recorded if you are unable to attend a live session.
